Before - This room was a decorator's nightmare!
The original furniture was oversized and poorly positioned
with the largest piece on the smallest wall. Emptied out,
the huge purple and white floral pattern and dark gray shiny
shellacked ceilings closed in the three-bedroom suite, suffocating
and overwhelming the new owners.
Before we perform magic, we empty the room
and look at the architecture. First, the loud wallpaper
was replaced with soothing paint in eye-pleasing colors
introducing a flow throughout the suite. The softer color
raised the ceiling and resulted in a spacious, elegant feeling.
Instead of overwhelming the room with large furniture on
every wall, we focused on one magnificent piece and kept
the rest to a minimum.
When we arrived, the movers had just dropped
their belongings. While we coordinated the bedroom to complement
two distinctive tastes, our closet organizers were at work
making space for both of their things.
We hung a simple Oriental tapestry on the
wall as a headboard, kept her end tables but added his lamps
and created a comfortable sitting area with his chair, table
and familiar accessories. Simple and functional, the room
was a unique reflection of the couple.
