Hide and seek to functional delight!
When
we arrived at this home, we were challenged by the owner!
He said the room was too small, the furniture too large,
and that it all had to go! This "before' home office
represents the most common mistake when placing furniture,
everything is lined up against walls-creating a dead space
in the center of the room. There's lots of clutter, no
room for clients, and it's impossible to find anything!
The first thing we did was bring the
desk into the room to address the architectural focal
point (the great window view). Next we counter balanced
the bookcases and introduced a seating area which allowed
for in-house meetings using bar chair throw-aways! A lighting
change actually makes the room look painted! A gallery
of pictures focusing on the high-profile of this client
helped create an air of comfort, drama and functionality.
All in one day!
Before
How do you turn this tiny
room complete with builders built-in into a workable study/office?
Gutsy decisions resulted in a dramatic
make-over for this room. A flat screen TV. against Black
walls made the very ordinary wood tones of the built-in
pop. The built in banquest provided ample seating and
the turn of the century desk & chair coupled with
fabulous area carpet really added great punch!
